Mom was born in Flin Flon, MB in 1935. She moved to Winnipeg at the age of 10 and lived on Worthington Ave where her father had an old MacDonald farm. She lived there for 2 years and then her parents bought a store in Lorette, MB where she worked with her parents. Mom started her teaching career at 18, met her soulmate Lucien, married, and then had 4 children. She taught in Lorette until they moved to Winnipeg in 1978. She continued her career at Howden Elementary School until she retired at 55. She loved to read, crochet, do crosswords and puzzles, travel, go camping, and of course her beautiful grandchildren and great grandchild.
She died peacefully at Riverwood Square with caring companions by her side. Her family is so grateful for the dedication and comfort they gave her. Mom’s gentle spirit, soft voice, unwavering kindness, and quiet strength touched all who knew her. Her life was a testament to love, resilience and the endearing bonds of family. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she graced.
Thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff of Dakota House, Riverwood Square, and the various Winnipeg hospitals for the compassionate care provided to our mom.
Memorial service will be held on Monday, December 29, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home.
