Marianne was predeceased by her husband Ken, daughter Catherine Blyth, her parents David and Catherine Nicholson, and brother Bill Nicholson (Shirley).
She leaves to mourn her son Andrew (Ruby), Charlie (Maura), grandchildren Richard Blyth (Tracy), Corey (Carmen) Fredborg, Marianne (Chris) Gainey, Caitlin Fredborg (Michael), Ciera Fredborg (Austin), Shannon Fredborg (Randy), great grandchildren Dylan Zimmerman-Blyth, Andrew Gainey, Tyrian Gainey, Shyla Fredborg and Emmrie Fredborg and numerous nephews and nieces.
Marianne was born and grew up in Winnipeg. She met her husband Ken at Winnipeg Beach and they married in 1955. They settled and raised their family in Fort Rouge in their house on Weatherdon Avenue. Marianne and Ken spent many summers enjoying their cottage at Lee River with family and friends. Marianne was also an active volunteer at her local community center and sat on various community boards for over twenty years. She loved to cook and bake and hosting Christmas Eve at their home. Marianne also loved five-pin bowling with Ken, and after he passed, she continued to enjoy the sport well into her Eighties. Her second passion was shopping which she could do for hours always including a stop at a restaurant for a coffee and dessert.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Actionmarguerite 185 Rue Despins for their care of and friendship with Mum. They shared stories on how they loved her singing and happy attitude.
A visitation for Marianne will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, Highway 1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marianne’s memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of one’s choice.
