

Masahiro “Mac” Yamamoto passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026.
He was recently predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Donna. He is survived by his daughter Debbie Rempel (John) and granddaughter Jennifer; son Wes (Lori Shimizu) and grandchildren Hayley and Troy; and son Brent.
Mac was born on July 31, 1930, in Steveston, BC, to Sosuke and Toku Yamamoto. In 1941, his family relocated to Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg in 1950. He married Donna in 1960, and their three children soon followed. Mac spent much of his working life in the steel industry, taking pride in his work. Known for his generosity, he was always willing to lend his time and talents to anyone in need, and his ability to solve problems and fix just about anything was unmatched.
He is also survived by sisters Mitsuko Takada and Setsuko Yoshida; sisters-in-law Rita Hill, Alice Kinoshita, Ita McCabe, and Joan Watanabe; brothers-in-law Kanao Yamamoto and Ken Watanabe; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospital for their care and compassion over the past month. Mac also enjoyed living at The Courtyards at Linden Pointe over the past three years.
