She was born in Raard, Netherlands on January 18, 1931. Her love of JESUS instilled a lifelong passion for pursuing a deeper relation with her creator. She loved to speak about it with anyone who would ask why she always lived with such peace. Rena and Sas first met and bonded over their mutual desire to move to Canada. They definitely had a pioneer spirit which continued throughout their long and [mostly :)] happy marriage.
She leaves behind the following:
Children: Lance (Diane), Annette, Heather (Leo), Art (Rachel)
Grandchildren: Rob (Shaela), Tara, Christie (Chris), Danny (Amanda), Rachelle (Dan), Val, Jocelyn (Lee), Devin, Aleksei, Gabriel (Tori), Sofia (Drew)
Great-grandchildren: Jayden, Jordan, Ben, Aubrey, Eliah, Matteo, Olivia, Aria
She was preceded in death by her husband Sas in 2002.
July 1954 traveled from Netherlands to Winnipeg (ship, train etc.) with no knowledge of English. Mom’s 1st worked as a nanny to the Wolinsky family in River Heights. The young boy she took care of (and learned English from) went on to become a famous Hollywood film editor. Sept. 1954 married Sas & 1 year later the kids started arriving.
The funeral will be held on Monday January 13 at 1:00 PM at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Ave in Winnipeg, MB. All friends and family are welcome.
