René Gerard Trudeau

René Trudeau passed away peacefully on April 11, 2013, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Germaine Trudeau (nee Duval), his children Florence May (David), Gerald Trudeau, Yvette Tellier (Guy), Alain Trudeau (Irene), Denis Trudeau (Mary) and Charles Trudeau. His grandchildren are Dan Tellier (Michelle), Marc Tellier (Krista), Matthieu Trudeau (Patricia), Roger Trudeau, Ken Trudeau, Curtis Trudeau, Tyler Trudeau, Kevin Trudeau, Rufus May and Chris May. His great-grandchildren are Zach, Seth and Anna Tellier.

René was born August 11, 1919 and grew up on a farm in Ile des Chenes. He enlisted in the Canadian Army and served in Britain, Italy and Western Europe during WW II. After demobilization, he returned to farm in the Ile des Chenes area with his wife Germaine. He also served as a general manager of the local Caisse Populaire for many years.

René was a soft-spoken man of gentle disposition, who loved playing his guitar. Always interested in the wider world, René loved discussing current affairs with family and friends.

René is predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Marie-Anne Trudeau, his brothers Aime and Achille, and his sister Florentine.

The family would like to thank the staff at Foyer Valade, Misericordia and Victoria Hospitals for their compassionate and kind care.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, April 16th, 2013 at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, Highway #1 East and Navin Road. Interment will be held at a later date.
