With deepest sadness we announce the passing of our mother. Rose was born six years before the Great Depression of 1929 on April 28th, 1923 and her long life journey came to an end when we said our last goodbye on March 1st, 2021.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward on May 23, 1992, her 2 brothers, 3 sisters and all her in-laws. She leaves to mourn her passing her 7 children: Anita, Yvette (Doug), Doris, Dan (Rose), Rick (Helen), Rita (Moe) Yvonne (Anton), her 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Our mother Rose was an avid reader and she made every effort to pass this trait on to her children. With such a great love of reading, as a young girl growing up, she always wanted to be a teacher however circumstances did not support her dream and caused her to leave school after grade nine. Mom was also an avid gardener and flowers were her passion.
Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling and we all had the benefit of many family car trips throughout Canada and the USA. Every Sunday was family day and Mom had an open door policy for all of us and even those we brought along. Food was ready and we could drop in for lunch or dinner. We miss our weekly visits and her meals cooked with love. Rose graduated with an honours degree from the school of life and a teaching degree in how to love your family. She was a wonderful person known for her smile and contagious laugh. She will be dearly missed.
Thank you to the staff at Golden Links Lodge for their compassion and care.
Donations in Rose’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
