Savita had a rare presence. She was a loving soul, cherished as a daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was exceptionally bright, deeply kind, and known for a generous spirit that made people feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for.
Savita devoted over 40 years to her career as an MICU dietitian. She most recently served at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, previously worked at St. Boniface General Hospital, and began her career in Brandon, Manitoba. She was respected for her compassion, meticulous care, and unwavering work ethic. People sought her out not only for her expertise, but for the way she showed up, steady, thoughtful, and wholehearted. She took pride in supporting colleagues, students, interns, and new graduates, and she received several awards recognizing her contributions. She also played a role in groundbreaking research in her field.
Outside of work, Savita was a fitness enthusiast, an avid runner and walker, and an incredible cook. She had a keen eye for style and decor, loved the arts and ballet, and was an avid reader with an exceptional book collection. If she wasn’t spending time with family or friends, she was often shopping, reading, or soaking up the sun.
Savita left every space better than she found it. Though we carry the grief of her absence, her warmth, love, and generosity will continue to live on in all of us.
At Savita’s request, there will be no service. We invite you to share a beautiful memory and raise a toast to a beautiful life.
With heartfelt gratitude, we thank the staff at HSC Women’s Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
