Serafina Buttari

Peacefully following a lengthy illness it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Serafina Buttari, with her family by her side on Jan. 6 2024 at 83 years of age at Seven Oaks General Hospital.

She will be lovingly remembered by her Son, Giovanni (Bonnie) daughter Cecilia (Todd) grandchildren, Katryna, Kayla, Ronald (Sadie), Danica, Roberto, Layne, Evangelene, great grand child Gianni, sisters Anna (Nunzio), Rosa and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

She was predeceased by father Nicola, mother Rosa, brothers Raffaele, Onofrio, sister Marianna and great grand child Ronald Giovanni.

Serafina was born in Bari, Italy, at age 8 she started working to help support the family which is where she learned her sewing skills. She then worked at a local hospital taking care of newborn babies. She then immigrated to Canada at the age of 27 to work at a sewing factory, where she stayed for several years then at Hy’s restaurant and finally at Cara operations at the Winnipeg airport. Serafina loved baking, cooking and making clothes for her friends and family. She was very loving and caring, her door was always open for all. She always made sure everyone was fed.

The family would like to Thank all the wonderful caring staff on the fifth floor and in the dialysis unit at Seven Oaks General Hospital.

There will be a private family service at Green Acres.
