Stanley was born in Winnipeg on March 12, 1951, to Joseph Louis Lionel Champagne and Otillia (Proulx) Champagne. He grew up in Winnipeg, where he made his home throughout his life.
Stanley was a devoted husband to Dianne (Lahn) Champagne, with whom he shared a loving marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and enduring companionship. He was a proud father to Belinda (James) Olson and a cherished grandfather to Brett Olson and Saddie Olson, who brought him endless joy.
For over 40 years, Stanley worked as a control room cooker operator at a rendering plant, where he was known for his dedication, steady work ethic, and loyalty to his coworkers. His career reflected his commitment to providing for his family and contributing to his community.
Stanley will be remembered for his strong character, his silly nature, and the way he could sometimes be downright ridiculous — always finding ways to make those around him laugh and smile. He took pride in his roots and carried with him the values of hard work and resilience passed down from his parents.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at HSC Winnipeg, especially those in the Emergency Room, SICU, and Neurology departments, for their exceptional care and compassion during his final days.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Winnipeg. Interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stanley’s memory to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation, Winnipeg.
Stanley will be laid to rest in Winnipeg, the city he always called home.
