We sadly announce the peaceful passing of Stella Gill at Concordia Place on August 24, 2020 at the age of 91.
Stella was born and raised in St. Boniface to parents William and Mary Kaluznick. She started working at a young age at Swifts and in later years at Canada Safeway Meat Dept. until her retirement. Stella married her husband Wally Gill, Nov. 24, 1956. They resided and raised their children Darlene and Russell in their home on Regent Ave. In 2018 Stella moved to Concordia Place.
A stronger woman you will never find. Fiercely independent, emotionally strong, hardworking, kind and generous, always wanting to help others. She loved baking and cooking for her family and friends making everyone their favorites. Many of us were fortunate to receive a supply of her perogies and cabbage rolls to enjoy.
Stella loved Bingo! There is probably not one bingo hall in Transcona that she did not patronize. She volunteered in the canteens with her sister Minnie and made many lifelong friends.
Predeceased by her husband Wally, daughter Darlene, son Russell. Her twin sister in infancy, sisters Nellie Semnovitch, Olga Oberton, Minnie Kaluznick, Zoe Strychar, brothers Edward, Walter and Stan, brothers and sisters in-law.
Survived by her son in-law Eugene, sister in-law Bev.Kaluznick, Calgary many loving nieces and nephews and their families, cousin David Leveque and friends.
Thank you to the staff at Concordia Place for taking such good care of her.
Due to the current group size restrictions a private family service will take place.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Concordia Foundation Inc. or a charity of your choice can be made in her memory should you so desire.
