We are profoundly saddened to inform you of the passing of our beautiful Mom, Terry Bailey, on Dec. 7, 2021 at the age of 80. Not only was Mom a great mother, she was a dedicated wife to our Dad, Bill Bailey, for 61 years. Mom was a loving soul and gave deep support and love to all her family and friends. It breaks our hearts that she had to leave us now, but she wanted to be with her sweetie(Bill) who passed away six months ago. They are together again, this time for eternity.
As all genuinely loving people do, Mom leaves many with a void in their lives, particularly her three cherished children and their families; Leslie Szczepanski(Bailey/Kash(daughter Gianna)), Michele/Wayne Grocholski(Winston(Marian)/Preston) and Scott/Teresa Bailey(Alexis/Nicole/Quinton). Mom also leaves her sister Doris Shane and many other family and friends with fond memories of their times together. Mom was predeceased by her parents Marie-Ange LeBlanc(Legasse) and Wilfrid Felix LeBlanc and her brother and sister-in-law Rudy(Alfrey) LeBlanc.
We are tremendously grateful for the life our Mom gave us, she led by example and taught us to be proud and work hard to reach our goals. We remember Mom and her unyielding dedication to her family, when we were young Mom would come home from Safeway on the bus with arms full of groceries in those paper bags that were so hard to carry, Mom never shied away from hard work! One of Mom’s first jobs was at the pharmacy at the corner of Stafford and Grosvenor, she reminded us every time we drove past! Mom spent most of her career in the bakery with Safeway, where she became the first female Bakery Manager, she was blazing trails! Mom loved to look good, the evening before she passed she talked about looking sharp when she goes, we will see to it that she does. Mom had an eye for beauty, she was incredibly artistic and has painted countless oils that hang on the walls of many people that will read this passage, please think of her every time you glance at your painting. Her artistic flair was displayed in her imaginative cakes that she decorated for special events in Winnipeg for over 30 years.
Mom always thought we could do anything we set our minds to, she was supportive of people’s ambitions no matter how grand. Mom was the first Manager at Safeway to arrange for the donation of near-dated food to go to those less fortunate and she has the plaques of gratitude hanging on her walls from many of the recipients, we are very proud of her generosity through her entire life. Mom would try to do anything, no matter how out of her realm, if it meant that it would help someone that she knew needed help.
Mom and Dad made a lovely couple, both sharply dressed and proud to be on each other’s arms. Mom loved trips to Vegas with her family, but she would join strangers if they let her, the casino was Mom and Dad’s pastime as they grew older. As Mom and Dad aged, they took their love for each other to a new level, this was a blessing to witness! As many of us know, love can be trying while raising children and paying bills, they persevered and are rewarded now with eternal love.
A service will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Green Acres Funeral Home. Due to COVID, proof of full vaccination will be require to attend.
Mom loved a nice bouquet of flowers, however she would be honoured if you helped someone out that is in need.
