

Verna Bartlett was born on January 30, 1943 and passed peacefully on July 24th 2025 at Action Marguerite at the age of 82 after a lengthy battle with dementia.
She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Bartlett
Born in Lorne municipality, Manitoba. She lived in Mariapolis Manitoba for 14 Years before the family moved to St. Vital, where she resided throughout most of her life.
Born into a family of six on a farm in Mariapolis, life was hard but gave Verna many strengths that she utilized throughout her life.
Once the family was established in
St. Vital, Verna attended and graduated from Holy Cross high school. She then attended stenography and secretarial classes at St. Mary's Academy.
Verna began her career at the Manitoba Liquor Control Board where she met her husband Art Bartlett.
After a time they married and had two children together while living on Avondale Road in St. Vital.
Spring weekends and summers were spent at Falcon Lake fishing and camping when they weren't tending the garden.
Verna also enjoyed many visits with her brother and family up at Big Whiteshell lake.
Verna worked at the Gondola Pizza commissary for a time and later worked as an educational assistant in multiple schools before she retired.
Coming from a large family, Verna and Art enjoyed hosting Boxing Day dinners and sharing their holidays with brothers, sisters, and later their own children, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Verna was an avid crafter, painting table cloths with her mother and sisters, decorating clay pots for her plants, creating beautiful embroidered towels, cross stitching beautiful pictures and knitting sweaters and mittens for her family and later her grandchildren. She was also an extremely talented quilter with dozens of quilted works to her name, which will be treasured for years to come.
Verna had a lifelong love of gardening which she shared with her children and grandchildren. She was an accomplished canner making beautiful jams, jellies, and preserves that were enjoyed by family and friends, and she mentored her children, nephews and daughter-in-law with her wealth of knowledge.
Verna loved to travel, visiting destinations including California with Art to see their son Kyle, daughter-in-law Kristy, and granddaughters Ava and Jessica; Las Vegas with a friend; Alaska, which saw a bus tour with her sister and husband; Washington state multiple times to see family; and finally a trip to Hawaii with her daughter Sarah, her daughter-in-law Shawna, and her grandson Evan.
She will be missed.
