We write today to inform you that on the morning of May 28, 2021, our deeply loved Husband/Father/Grandfather/Great-grandfather, William Franklin Bailey, has gone to join some of his most cherished friends and family.
Dad leaves behind Therese Bailey (LeBlanc) with whom he had a lifelong(61 years) marriage, and together they raised their pride and joy children; Leslie Szczepanski (Bailey/Kash(daughter Gianna)), Michele/Wayne Grocholski (Winston(Marian)/Preston) and Scott/Teresa Bailey(Alexis/Nicole/Quinton). Dad also leaves his sisters Sharon Terleski (Ron), Beverly Thomas (Bruce), June Otha (Ron), brothers Kirk (Carol) and Don (Barb), sisters-in-law Valarie Bailey, Lorraine Bailey, Doris Shane and lifelong friends Bob Campbell and Jack Thompson.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Hazel Kathleen Bailey (Franklin), Garnet Hughes Bailey and his brothers Gary and Gordon Bailey and his sister Joan Mckenzie (Barry).
Dad came from a large family of people with outgoing, large personalities, that made family gatherings entertaining and memorable. Some of the stories Dad shared about the things he and his eight brothers and sisters did in that small house on Imperial Avenue made you cry with laughter every time! Dad’s incredible sense of humour will be missed by all those who had the opportunity to be associated with him. With 82 years of life, Dad’s was filled with unconditional love from Mom and endless times of enjoyment raising their children, playing golf at Elmhurst, watching their grandchildren flourish and playing poker games with his siblings until late into the night. Dad always did a good job of hiding his love for those around him, it seemed to be how it was done for his generation. The last few years we saw Dad soften and we witnessed his true, uninhibited love come out at every opportunity, however losing siblings and Corey along the way hurt him deeply and he would have traded places with them without thought.
Dad beat cancer 16 years ago, so those closest to him were blessed with the additional time we were given. Dad’s cancer fight reaffirmed he didn’t want to be in a hospital when the end of his life approached, so we are grateful that he had a very short stay in the hospital and received incredible care from compassionate people at the Seven Oaks and Grace Hospitals. Dad was a little stubborn and wanted to go on his terms, and he did!
The Funeral for William will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 2 p.m. and will be livestreamed via www.greenacresfuneralhome.com
We are saddened that we can’t all gather and share fond stories of times with Dad, however the day will come when we can and we will laugh hardy then! In lieu of flowers please support someone in need.
