It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William (Bill) George Cave, beloved husband of Yvonne Cave. Bill passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 7, 2022, at the age of 87 years old and in the presence of his three children.
William (Bill) met Yvonne, the love of his life, in 1951 and were married on September 15, 1962. Bill and Yvonne cherished 59 years of marriage, raising 3 beautiful children who were his pride and joy. “For better or for worse, in sickness and health, until death do us part” are the vows Bill honored their 59 years of marriage, until his last breath. They created the life they had always wanted, and all that mattered was that to them, it was perfect.
Bill was an amazing husband, father and especially loved being a Papa, when he welcomed his first grandchild 27 years ago. He cared deeply for his family and those who were lucky to know him. He adored his hugs and would never shy away from holding the hands of those who he loved most. He worked exceptionally hard to help provide for his family, giving his children every opportunity to pursue and explore their passions. Bill had a strong work ethic, having spent the majority of his career at Mercury Marine as a parts manager. Bill had time off after his career at Mercury Marine and went back to school to obtain his grade 12 diploma, a proud moment for him and his family. He went on to continue to work at Ron’s Marine for a few years, retired but then picked up what might have been his favorite job, giving him the opportunity to meet so many special people doing deliveries for Nathan & Detroit until he officially retired in 2014 at the age of 79.
Bill was adventurous, loved the outdoors, sports and became an avid workout enthusiast, with the encouragement from his children Fishing, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, skating rinks in the back yard, go-cart building, swimming, cycling, building models & trains, running, certified scuba diver, and working out. He did it all and impressively, even up to the age 85, he was still a morning regular at Anytime Fitness. He also loved those Bombers and Jets. Not surprising, he was also the world’s greatest supporter of his children and grandchildren, always there on every possible sideline, ball game, marathon, hockey arena (sometimes with drum in hand), dance competition, cheering the absolute loudest.
He will forever hold a special place in our hearts and leaves behind a legacy for what we promise to always live up too. Never to be forgotten and always be remembered, couldn’t have asked for a better Husband, Father and Papa.
Bill is survived by his wife, Yvonne and his three children, Susan, Michael (Peggy) and Lisa (Craig): and his 7 grandchildren, David (Samantha), Olivia, Halle, Will, Kate, Lincoln and Adrianna. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews. William is predeceased by his parents Charlie and Ada Cave, his brothers, Robert and Fred, Sisters Eva and Connie.
A celebration of William’s life was held at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery on June 11th at 2:00 PM and was livestreamed via www.greenacresfuneralhome.com.
He Is Gone
You can shed tears that he is gone,
or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he’ll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all he’s left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him only that he is gone,
or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what he’d want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.greenacresfuneralhome.com for the Cave family.
