Yvette Margaret Barbour 7/20/1028 – 8/23/2025
Our precious beloved mother Yvette Margaret Barbour, 97, passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She was born on July 20, 1928, in Denholm, Saskatchewan, and was the youngest daughter of 13 siblings proceeded in death by her parents William and Jenny, 7 sisters, 5 brothers, her husband Jim, and grandson Jordan.
She married Jim, the love of her life and moved to Winnipeg and together they raised a family of 4 beautiful daughters in Transcona.
Yvette was very proud of her girls, who were the joy and center of her world. Donna (Peter), Lynne (Mark), Babe (Phil) and Jamie. As her family grew, she embraced her role as grandmother to thirteen grandchildren, Lauren, Brenden, Jenna, Tyler, Jeffery, Colin, Jordan, Stephanie, Brittany, Ali, Nikki, Madison and Manuel, and great-grandmother to eight, Tyson, Tidus, Jack, Jersie Lynne, Avery, Logan, Grayson and Jacob, each of whom she adored deeply. Yvette had a gift for making every child and grandchild feel uniquely special, always offering her one liners, sometimes inappropriate humor along with her direct but gentle advice, and her unconditional love.
Known for her vibrant spirit, Yvette was full of life and fun, with a contagious laugh that brightened every room she entered. Her presence was a source of comfort, wisdom, and joy to all who knew her. She was admired for her resilience, and kindness, and she leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and family devotion.
The family would like to acknowledge the surgical and medical team at Grace Hospital for all of the care provided as she fought so hard to stay with us.
Yvette will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by her family and friends. As Yvette would always say, one of her many one liners, “Don’t worry be happy” and also “A thing of beauty and joy forever”.
