It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne Claire Murray on October 6, 2026, at the age of 87, with her four daughters at her side at Actionmarguerite St. Vital.
Yvonne was born in St. Joachim, Ontario, on May 5, 1939, where she grew up on the family farm. Raised in a French-speaking family, she carried her francophone heritage with pride throughout her life. On August 11, 1958, she married the love of her life, James Patrick Murray, and later moved to Winnipeg to raise their family of four daughters. Yvonne was a beautiful, kind, gentle, and fun-loving person who was beloved by all who had the good fortune to know her. She worked very hard, caring for her family while holding various jobs over the years, and finally retired after 10 years at Drake Pharmacy.
Yvonne had a strong Catholic faith. She was a long-time active member of the St. Bernadette Church community and a dedicated volunteer to many causes, including the Catholic Women's League, the Red Hat Society, the Norwood Legion, Festival du Voyageur, and the River Garden 2 Club. Her most cherished roles were mother and grandmother, and as her great-grandchildren arrived, she became affectionately known as "G Ma." Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored her. Yvonne and James enjoyed travelling across North America, Mexico, and Europe, with several trips to visit family in Ireland, as well as winter stays in Texas at Paradise Park. Wherever there was music, Yvonne and James found their way to the dance floor, and her favourite song, "Walkin' After Midnight," will forever bring her back to those who loved her.
Yvonne loved being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, especially camping, fishing, and cooking for family and friends. Over the years, some of the family's favourite places to spend time with her were English Brook, the Oasis, and St. Malo. Her kitchen was the heart of the family, and no one ever left her table hungry. She was an amazing cook, and her recipes, especially her chicken poutines, will continue to be loved and savoured at family gatherings in her memory.
Yvonne spent time living with family in St. Malo, a gentle transition from her long-time home to her last home. In November 2024, she moved to Actionmarguerite St. Vital, which quickly became a very happy home for her and the entire family, where we enjoyed social activities, visiting with residents and staff, and gathering for meals. Her favourite TV show was Hudson & Rex, and family, residents, and staff all got caught up in the show and enjoyed watching it with her.
She was elegant at every stage of her life, with a magnificent sense of fashion and style, and she was always "dressed to the nines." One of her favourite parts of her daily visits with her daughters was choosing her outfit and evening pajamas for the next day. She was admired for how beautiful she looked, and she enjoyed this to her last days.
Yvonne will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Marlene, Pauline (Rod), Brenda (Réal), and Cindy (Bruce); grandchildren Melanie (Ashley), Melissa (Dan), Danny (Sarah), and Jamie (Alex); step-grandchildren Danielle (Dale), Joanne (Matt), and Holly (Gary); great-grandchildren Aidan, Shaelynn, Nathan, Hannah (North), and Benjamin; and step-great-grandchildren Aidan, Alexis, and Carmen. She is also survived by her brothers Luc (Christine) and Gerald (Leona), her sister Julie (Tom), and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law in the Le Boeuf and Murray families in Canada, Ireland, and Ohio, U.S.A.
Yvonne was predeceased by her husband, James Patrick Murray; her parents, Edward and Marguerite Le Boeuf; her brother Roland and his wife Lorraine; and her best friends, Shirley Holke and Adelia Bouvier.
A funeral service will be held on October 22nd at 1:00pm at Green Acres Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place later.
Special thanks to all the staff of Actionmarguerite St. Vital (administrators, doctors, nurses, specialists, healthcare aides, housekeeping, spiritual care team, and volunteers) for the loving care and support they gave Yvonne and her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Actionmarguerite St. Vital, the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, or a charity of your choice.
Yvonne's favourite goodbye was always "I love you more."
Until we meet again, Mom, we will always love you more.
Je t'aime plus.
