If anyone ever cared, truly cared, for others it was Wayne E. Bemish. Known as "Buddy" to all who loved him, he was a warm hearted and well-liked individual. He was honest, hard working and a respected member of the Needles community. These wonderful traits came easily to him because he was such a sociable and amiable person. He was a kind-hearted person who thoroughly enjoyed life. Buddy was born and raised in Needles, CA. He was the only son of Young and Marnie Bemish and younger brother to sister Susan. During his childhood he learned to be reliable and respectful. He found it easy to show sympathy, understanding and kindness to others. These admirable qualities would become a part of Buddy's personality throughout his life. As a child Buddy was frequently the one to initiate games and activities with his family, he was also quite often the family member who took the role of referee. He was a peacemaker with an ability to resolve all sorts of family conflicts. In fact, he worked conscientiously to keep those typical family spats at bay. He and his sister had sibling rivalries while growing up, but they cared deeply for one another. Buddy was always enthusiastic about new adventures. He was an active child with many interests. He enjoyed swimming in the river, fishing, hunting and he also played football. For Buddy, the school routines were never a problem although he generally preferred variety to structure. He seemed to be able to start a project and work right through to its completion. And he was able to do it quickly and efficiently. He was also adept at details. He was very observant and was generally quick at picking up new things. Buddy graduated from Needles High School in 1954. Buddy was the kind of person who simply radiated good fellowship. This quality is one of the primary reasons that he was such a popular person throughout his life. He was dependable, loyal and trustworthy. While he maintained personal standards and his own personal values he was very accepting of others. When Buddy made friends, he made true and lasting friendships. He was a faithful and loving person. His kindness and consideration brought warmth to those around him. Taking his work seriously came naturally to Buddy, and he expected the same from those around him. He was proud to be a self-employed local Business owner. He felt lucky that his Business allowed him to be part of the community that he loved and he never hesitated to sponsor the Needles children's athletic programs. He touched so many peoples lives, as everyday his job gave him opportunities to interact with friends and neighbors. He was a “people person” and it was demonstrated in his good communication skills. Buddy was a steady worker, one who was realistic about schedules. He could understand the details without getting lost in the broad “big picture.” He brought persistence to his work and did whatever was necessary in order to get the job done. Buddy was an active person who enjoyed so many things. His keen interest in the lives of other people led him to become a life member at both the Needles Eagles Lodge and the Needles Elks Lodge. He was one of those people who took pride in constantly putting forth his best effort. Nowhere was that more visible than in his service to the Needles Elks Lodge. He was a 53 year member, held all the chairs and sat as Exalted Ruler twice. He served the Elks Lodge in many other ways including holding the positions of Esquire and District Chairman. However, his true love was golf. In fact, it was his passion. He played the game every Saturday morning and every Sunday afternoon...and most Wednesdays...(and really every chance he got). When he wasn't on the course he was watching it on T.V. He was a huge sports fan and he also enjoyed boating on the river. . Buddy passed away, with his loving wife by his side, on January 8, 2010 at his home. He is survived by wife, Claudia; sister, Susan Swain and husband Gordon; Children, Jeff Bemish; Andrea Halverson and husband, Rodger; Jeremy Bemish and wife Stacy; Carrie Burgess and husband Dave; Jamie Molder and husband Douglas; Nine grandchildren, Carrie Harris; Amanda and Ashia Halverson; Jera and Daniel Bemish; Christa and Matthew Burgess and Presten and Alli Molder. At the Needles Elks Lodge #1608 in Needles, CA. Buddy was a fantastic conversationalist who could engage just about anyone in a discussion. And whenever he said something, he meant it. He was a down to earth person, outgoing and gregarious. He was without question the type of person who enjoyed experiencing things first hand. He was practical and sensible, but what friends and family will remember him for most is the fact that he was so understanding and kind. Everyone whose life he touched will miss him deeply.
