

A. Keith Scharrer passed away peacefully on January 31, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Keith was born on November 20, 1934 in New Albany and graduated from New Albany High School and the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science. During his lifetime, Keith was employed by the former Feeney Kirby Mortuary in Indianapolis, Indiana, and later, by Westwood Pharmaceuticals/Bristol Myers Squibb. Keith retired as funeral director with Kraft Funeral Service in New Albany, Indiana. Keith also served his country as an active duty serviceman with the U.S. Army, and received an honorable discharge. He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks #270 in New Albany and past member of the Knights of Columbus and the Optimist Club, both in Indianapolis. He was also a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany.
Keith is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Nancy Kraus Scharrer, son, Karl Scharrer (Alice) of Sellersburg, IN, daughter, Angela Scharrer Bouch (Gary) of New Albany, and two grandchildren, Kristian and Paris O’Steen. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Martha Scharrer; Sister, Eunice Farnsley; Brother, Vernon Scharrer; and daughter, Margaret Anne Scharrer.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Thursday, February 2nd at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. His funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Friday, February 3rd at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany followed by entombment at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
Memorial contributions in remembrance of Keith may be made to the Mary Lou Kraus Jacobi Scholarship Fund, c/o I.U. Southeast, or to the New Albany-Floyd County Animal Shelter.
