Anna Mae Fessel Schroeder

Anna Mae (Fessel) Schroeder, 92 years of age peacefully left this world on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Providence Diversicare. She was born September 27, 1924 in Harrison County, Indiana to the late John E. and Cora M. (Brown) Fessel and was the widow of her husband of 66 years Robert W. Schroeder. She was a graduate of Morgan Township High School and the old New Albany Business College. She formerly worked at the old First Federal Bank and Trust until she became a mother. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Ann was a skilled quilter and craft woman and was a longtime active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of New Albany and the Altar Society. She was well know and loved and fondly called the “Pie Lady” at the K of C Fish Fries and church events. Ann was most proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Lillian, Opal, Clyde and Glenn Fessel, Verna Tamer, and Bertha Geltmaker.

Survivors include her children, Jim Schroeder (Diane), Sondra Bolte, Tony Schroeder (Annie); 9 grandchildren, Jennifer, Corey, Zachary, and Joseph Schroeder, Kelly Reed, Sasha Haywood, Hannah Bolte, Aubrey Rosenkranz, Gretchen Blake; also 20 delightful great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Kraft Funeral Service 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Albany with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana. The family requests expressions of sympathy to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 415 E. 8th Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150. Rosary Service 3:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
