Arvel F. Johnson

Arvel F. Johnson, age 85, of New Albany, Indiana passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Arvel was born in Borden, Indiana on February 12, 1940 to the late Erna Johnson and Geneva (Zollman) Johnson. Arvel was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He retired from General Electric after 33 years of employment. Arvel was a country boy through and through. He was an avid woodworker and loved to create beautiful items especially for his wife's "craft projects".

Arvel is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Carolyn Sue (Mann) Johnson; his brothers, James Johnson and Frank Johnson.

Arvel is survived by his loving and caring daughter, Mary Elizabeth Johnson; his siblings, Deloris Walker, Betty (Jude) Walters, Margaret Stewart, Cynthia (Larry) Jordan, Sylvia Harrell, Kenneth (Rita) Johnson, and Shirley Russell; and many nieces and nephews and extended friends and family.

Arvel's kindness, generosity, unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.

A visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana, on Monday, August 25, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Tuesday, August, 26, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. His funeral service with be held at Kraft Funeral Service at 11:00 am, Tuesday, with a private burial to be held at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, Indiana.
