Barbara graduated from NAHS in 1951 and married Frank Melvin Jackson in 1953. She was a life-long resident of New Albany and attended DePauw United Methodist her whole life before moving to Clarksville, into assisted living and health care at Westminster.
No matter where Mom went, she knew someone. When she hesitantly moved into independent living, the first day she met her long-lost cousin, Laverne. She never skipped a beat from that day forward and enjoyed the social gatherings, bingo, activities, and performances. She especially loved the musical ones as she played the piano and sang in both the high school choir and at church for years.
An informal Celebration of Life will be held in the Westminster Village Social Center, 812-282-9691, 2200 Greentree North, Clarksville, IN, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with visitation first. Please join the family to honor Barbara’s long life by sharing memories, laughter, and love.
Private interment has been entrusted to Kraft-Graceland Cemetery.
Special thanks go out to the staff of Westminster Village, Westminster Health Care, and Amedisys Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care, especially in her final days; to her favorite (and only) nieces, Sandra and Carol, for their many joyful visits with Mom over the years; and to the Byerley family for their weekly caregiving. Mom considered Marla part of the family, and her devotion to Mom over the last five years is admirable and greatly appreciated.
