Barry L. Vernia, 72, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Barry was born in New Albany, Indiana to the late Charles and Beulah Tscheulin Vernia on April 10, 1952. Barry served in the U.S. Navy and was passionate about his support for fellow veterans. He had a long career in Information Technology. Barry was a member of Edwardsville United Methodist Church. Everywhere he went, he loved to make people laugh and could do so with just a word or gesture.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Ronald Vernia.
Barry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Moss Vernia, sisters Sharlah Holder (Bill) of Kissimmee, FL, Denise Vernia of NJ, Leah Vernia-Amend (Bill) of Shawnee, OK and many other family members, extended family members and friends.
Visitation for Barry will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150. Funeral service will be Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Kraft Funeral Service with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. Bill Amend, Stephen Amend, Travis Martin, Jamie Knight, Travis Fowler and Stephen Terhune will serve as pallbearers. Vikotoria Amend and Annette Knight will serve as honorary pallbearers.
