Betty Lou Helbig, 83, passed away January 13, 2026, at Norton Clark Hospital. She was born on April 30, 1942, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Anton "Tony" and Cora Whitworth Rothbauer. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Albany. Betty loved gardening, spending time with her family and her beloved dogs throughout the years, especially Molly.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Helbig; a brother, Alan Rothbauer; and the father of her children, Melvin A. Helbig.
Betty is survived by three daughters, Cathy Clevenger (Melvin), Monica Jenkins (John) and Melissa Cora (Eddie); grandchildren, Rachel Hallsen (Jeffrey), Sara Gregory (Joey), John "J.T." Jenkins (Sarah), Aiden Cora (Taylor), Maria Cora, Gabriel Cora and Aleena Cora; great grandchildren, Dahlten Hallsen, Clayton Hallsen (Jessica), Portia Hallsen, Ashton Hallsen, Arianna Gregory, Sadie Jenkins, Triston Jenkins and Gunnar Jenkins; great great grandchildren, Lainey Hallsen, Raelynn Hallsen and Hazel Hallsen; a brother, Tony Rothbauer; several nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend, Doris Warren.
Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, located at 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana, 47150, on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 from 10:00 am till Noon.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church officiated by Father Jose Neri on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 12:05 pm with burial at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
