Betty L. Summers

Betty L. Summers, 87, died Friday, February 12, 2016 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was born May 18, 1928 in Harrison County to the late Leonard and Josie Thomas Harrison. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Wilma Prentice Bundy and Paul Harrison. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed genealogy and antiques. Most importantly, she was a member of Community of Christ Church of New Albany and Restored Church of Christ of Byrneville, Indiana who loved and cared for others, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joseph V. Summers; children, Betty Ray and her husband, Rob, Pat Sharp and her husband, Don, Julie Gatrost and her husband, Michael, and Joseph “Joe” Summers and his wife, Brenda; brothers, Robert “Bob” Harrison and his wife, JoAnn and Richard “Rich” Harrison and his wife, Ann; grandchildren, Christopher Ray, Sarah Ray Linsmier, Benjamin Lowman, Kara Lowman Garrison, Kristen Gatrost Ergenbright, Devin Gatrost, Ashley Gatrost, Jessica Coriell, Isabella Summers, and Evangeline Summers; and great grandchildren, Reilly, Violet, Isaac , and Graycen.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thurday and after 10:00 am Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Service will be 12:00 pm Friday at the funeral home chapel with private entombment to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
