Clara Elaine McKinley, 72, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on November 3, 2025. Elaine was born in New Albany, Indiana, on February 25, 1953, to the late Jesse Lear Sr. and Norma (Lamb) Lear. Elaine spent the first part of her adult life as a homemaker and as a loving and proud mother. After her children were raised, she worked as a professional with Pharmerica. Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness and gentle spirit touched all who knew her. She dedicated her life to her family, always putting the needs of others before her own. Known for her nurturing nature, Elaine had a special way of making everyone feel cared for and loved. Children and animals alike were drawn to her warmth and compassion.
An exceptional cook, Elaine took great joy in preparing her signature dishes — lasagna, chicken and dumplings, and a wide variety of homemade desserts — all made with her trademark love. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, singing along to her favorite songs, reading, and taking long drives with her husband.
Elaine’s love for animals was lifelong, from riding horses as a child to rescuing countless cats. Her generous heart and gentle humor brought light to every room she entered.
Elaine will be remembered for her selflessness, her quiet strength, her laughter, and the immeasurable love she gave to her family and friends. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Reed McKinley Sr.; her loving son, Reed McKinley Jr.; her brothers, Jesse Lear Jr. and Michael Lear; her brother-in-law, Bill Lipginski; and her grandparents, Otto and Clara Lamb.
