Dorothy V. Hoffman Pyle

Dorothy V. Hoffman Pyle, 86, died Friday, March 13, 2015. She was born November 2, 1928 in New Albany to the late William G. and Clara B. Girdley Hoffman. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Pyle, brothers, Mike, Herman, John, and baby Thomas Hoffman, and sisters, Wilma Berlin and Margaret Hays. She graduated from New Albany High School (Class of 46), retired after over 35 years from Colgate and was a founding member of Scottsville Christian Church where she served as choir director for over 30 years and taught Sunday school for more than 25 years. She and her husband, along with her brother and sister-in-law and for a time, their father, performed in the quartet, Gospel Sounds.

17 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and many extended family members.

Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday and after 11:00 am Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to: Scottsville Christian Church or to the scholarship fund started in her honor at the church for the music department at Johnson Bible College.
