Dwala Sue (Funk) Griffin

Dwala Sue (Funk) Griffin, 76, passed away at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019. She was born in Floyd County, Indiana on December 7th, 1942 to William Albert and Martha (Smith) Funk.
Dwala married Robert Maurice Griffin on July 20th, 1963. He preceded her in passing on January 23rd, 2008. Survivors include her daughters, Mindy Jo Griffin-Staton (Troy), Dana Ann Griffin, and Amy Lou Griffin-Allen (Gus); grandchildren, Andrew Baas (Jenna), Jacob Baas (Samantha), Tyler Baas, Griffin Allen, and Molly Allen; great grandchildren, Emma, Luke, and Reid; and her sister, Peggy Ann Perrine (Terry) of Franklin. She is preceded in passing by her parents and husband.
She was a 1960 graduate of New Albany High School. She also graduated from St. Joseph’s Nursing School Class of 1963.
Dwala worked at Jefferson County Health Department in Louisville, Kentucky as a Public Health Nurse for 40 years until her retirement in 2005.
She loved the beach, cooking, and most importantly her grandkids.
A reception of family and friends will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. A memorial service will begin 1:00 pm Saturday in the funeral home chapel.
