Harry served proudly as a PFV in the United States Army in Ft. Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska from 1964 to 1966 as a Telecommunications Operator. Harry was a proud member of the first graduating class of Waggener High School in 1960. He married the love of his life, Barbara (Shaffer), on November 21, 1964, in New Albany, Indiana. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage built on devotion, family, and steady love.
Harry spent 30 years with Ford Motor Credit, where he served as a Branch Manager. His career took his family from Louisville to Mt. Airy, Maryland, then Orange, California, Anchorage, Alaska, and finally Eugene, Oregon. After retiring, Harry never truly slowed down—he delivered parts for his son, Harry, and later became a “professional driver” for the Clark County Auto Auction after settling in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
Family was always at the center of Harry’s life. He cherished time spent with those he loved and especially enjoyed golfing with his son, grandsons, and brothers-in-law. For several years, weekly golf outings with coworkers were a highlight of his routine. A summer wasn’t complete without a family fishing trip. He also loved traveling to visit family across the country, including his daughter Amy and her family in New Hampshire and his sister Barby in Florida.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Madeline.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara “Barb” Willette; his children, Harry (Laura) and Amy (Shaun); grandchildren Zachary (Lina), Christopher (Jenny), Kaila (Will), Brenna, Samuel, Leyna, Tessa, and Till; and great-grandchildren Elaina, Elise, and Clara. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Owen, nieces Michelle and Barbara, nephew Tom, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Harry will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and the quiet, steady presence he brought to everyone who knew him.
