John C. Hammond, 55, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018. The son of the late James M. and Betty Jo Bratcher Hammond, John was born September 16, 1962 in New Albany. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Will Long. John never met a stranger. He loved fishing and hunting, and was a loyal I.U. and Cincinnati Bengals fan. His wit and sense of humor will be missed by many.
Survivors include his children, Miranda Rose Hammond, John Wayne Hammond, and Ciarra Ems; siblings, Sheila Jo Hammond (Brad Goforth), Don C. Hammond (Michelle), Barbara J. Sillings (Todd), and Larry J. “Jim” Hammond (Terri Kay Jordan); nieces and nephews, Natalie Jo Hentrup (BJ), Levi Goforth, Layton Goforth, Alex Goforth, Elizabeth Iredale, Matt Hammond, Alex Hammond, Lara Jo Hammond, and Angie Long.
Cremation was chosen. Memorial Visitation will be held from 1 pm until 3 pm on Saturday, August 18th, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, IN with a Celebration of John's Life following at 3 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
