Louita "Lou" Bernadine (Byrne) Rutherford passed on April 30, 2026, at the age of 86. Lou was born on April 21, 1940, in New Albany, Indiana to the late Robert and Bernadine (Utz) Byrne. She retired from Local Union #795 and along with her parents was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Byrne; and her great grandson, Roger Pool, III.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph Wilhoite (Tammy), Samuel Wilhoite (Tonda); sister, Saundra Toops (Ronnie); nephew, Ronnie Toops (Annette); nieces, Theresa Brown (Larry), Elizabeth Ann Miller, Rhonda Young; grandchildren, Jacob Wilhoite, Joseph Wilhoite (Amy), Sarah Wilhoite-Johnson (Matt), Samantha Hill (Jon), Amanda Kemp (Danny); 10 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150, on May 8, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and on May 9, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Final resting place will be at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany.
