Funeral services for Melvin D. Martin, 76, Floyds Knobs, will be at noon Friday, September 13, 2013 at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with private entombment to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013.
Melvin was born August 27, 1937 in Paris, Tennessee to the late Henry and Josephine Adams Martin. He was the widower of Mary Kay Martin who died in 2006 and was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Melvin was the retired owner and operator of U.S.A. Expedite Transportation and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include four children, Tim Martin and wife Robin, Kimberly Apple, Tanya Wallace and husband Mike, and Mark Neher and wife Janie; two brothers, Daniel Martin and Dale Martin and wife Dee; 12 grandchildren, Waylon, Briana, Miranda, Devon, Tyler, Lauren, Matthew, Matt, Jeremy, Shelby, Katie and Nathan; one great-grandchild, Jayden; and special friend and caregiver, Betty Shorter.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
