Michael Thomas Sheets

MICHAEL THOMAS SHEETS, 69, passed away Friday, October 28, 2016. He was born November 1, 1946 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Jennings Claire and Sara Merldean Sheets. Mike was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War then enlisted in the Army Reserves, serving for 40 years and retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He also worked 13 years at the former Centerplate Company of Louisville and was a member of Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany. Along with his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherri Popplewell.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Elaine (Pittman) Sheets; daughters, Shellie Stewart (Lonnie) and Cindy Sheets; sister, Ginger Hudnall (Paul); brother, Benjamin Sheets (Connie); grandsons, Justin Stewart (finance Emily Chapman) and Joshua Stewart; great granddaughter, Emma Stewart; and several nieces.

Visitation will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be 12:00 pm Wednesday in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel with burial and military honors to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, Indiana.
