Minnie "Maxine" Strange, 84, passed away on February 5, 2026, in New Albany, Indiana. Maxine was born on February 8, 1941, in Barbourville, Kentucky, to the late Daniel & Fannie (Hamblin) Ballew. She retired from E.M. Cummings Veneer in New Albany, Indiana. Maxine lived life on her terms and her terms only, but everyone came before her when it came to providing.
In addition to her parents, Maxine is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ivan Strange; her beloved son, Michael Bailey; her eight brothers, and one sister.
Maxine is survived by her children; Thomas "Tom" Ballew (Bernice) and Cheryl Rowe (Dennis); grandchildren, Tonya, Shonda, Crystal, and Michael; her fourteen great-grandchildren; her three great great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Kraft Funeral Home, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Her Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 pm with a private burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
