Paul W. Tanner, 83 years of age passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany. He was born on March 14, 1938 in Huntingburg, Indiana to the late John and Delores (Dearing) Tanner. Paul was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and retired after 30 years as an insurance agent with Prudential Life. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville, Voiture 40/8 of New Albany, Bonnie Sloane American Legion of New Albany, and Knights of Columbus in Lanesville. Paul was preceded in death by his son, Paul J. “PJ” Tanner, daughter, Jill M. Lett.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Edna Thewes Tanner; daughters, Michelle Perkins (Todd), Dana Tanner; son-in-law, David Lett (Lisa); siblings, Judy Skaggs (Bob), Scott Tanner, Marian Cooper, Leah Hayworth; grandchildren, Maria Perkins, Katie Perkins, Aaron Lett, Abby Birge (Zach), Rachel Lett; great grandson, Tanner Birge.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2500 St. Mary’s Drive NE, Lanesville, Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
