Peggy (Ellis) Schell passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 90. She was born on April 7, 1935, in Evansville, Indiana to the late Frank and Anna (Rohlfer) Ellis. Peggy worked as a candy striper in her early years, was a homemaker, and a longtime employee of Whayne Supply Company in Louisville. She was a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Schell. Peggy was a very strong and independent woman. She dearly loved her farmland and mowing the pastures with her tractor of 30+ years. She loved tending her beautiful flower gardens, her Koi ponds, and watching all of the wildlife. She loved her family and her grandchildren.
Peggy is survived by her children, Brenda Camp (Jeff), Barbara Schell, Larry Schell (Tressa), Cathy Schrank (Tom Medley), Lenny Alderman, Jackie Schell; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; and sister, Cathy McLean.
Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150, on March 10, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, 5719 St Marys Rd, Floyds Knobs, Indiana 47119, on March 11, 2026, at 10:30 am.
Peggy will be laid to rest at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany.
