Russell Franklin Zahnd

Russell Franklin Zahnd, 85, Brandenburg, passed away on December 14, 2025. Russell was born in New Albany, Indiana, on May 6, 1940, to the late Christy Zahnd and Mary Jane (Scott) Zahnd. He was a graduate of New Albany High School and joined the U.S. Army following graduation. Russell was a proud veteran with 21 years of honorable service to his country before his military retirement.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children and first wife, Maria (Eerenberg) Zahnd; his loving daughter, Doris Jane Johnson; and his grandson, Joseph Franklin Lear.

Russell is survived by his wife, Anita (Radtke) Zahnd; his children, Pamela "Pam" Tetrick and Monique Ready (Bob); his twelve loving grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; along with extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana, on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 11:00 am, followed by military honors and a graveside service at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
