

Ruth M. Cole, 97, died Friday, May 9, 2014 at home with family by her side. She was born October 13, 1916 in New Albany to the late Jesse and Bertha (Bauer) Cole. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Marvin and Morris Cole. She retired from Union Federal Savings and Loan Association after 35 years of service. She was active in Pilot Club, Professional Women’s Club, and D of I. She also served on the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army, was a Founder of Harvest Homecoming, and was the 1996 Older Hoosier of the Year. She was also a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She collected unicorns, liked watching The Wheel of Fortune and was a beloved “favorite” aunt to many.
Survivors include her sister, Martha Jane Burden; nieces and nephews, Deborah Burden, Patsy Bolton, Donna Holt, Donald Burden, Beverly Cole, Morris Cole Jr., James Cole; many more friends and extended family members
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, Indiana with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
