Terry's loving husband and partner of nearly 15 years, Darold Frakes, was by his side in his final hours and brought him comfort. Their beloved babies; Daisy Mae, Shaggy, Baby Girl, Welford, Mr. Lewis and Punkin Pie were right there as well, as they always had been.
Terry and Darold stood by each other through thick and thin, in sickness and in health and were loyal partners in all aspects of life. Their bond was unbreakable, filled with love and laughter and high-spirited fun.
Terry was a proud graduate of Floyd Central High School, class of 1980, where he received recognition for his perfect attendance. He had a passion for art and found solace in creating beautiful pieces of pottery on the wheel. Terry was a dedicated iron worker from Local Union 70 and was proud of the many structures that he helped construct all over Louisville, Kentucky.
Terry was known for his infectious humor and witty jokes. One couldn't help but smile and laugh along with him, no matter the circumstance. His presence always guaranteed smiles and plenty of good food because of his exceptional cooking skills. Terry's talents extended beyond the kitchen. He had an amazing green thumb and transformed his yard into a botanical oasis with fountains and koi ponds, earning the reputation of being the Botanical Gardens of the neighborhood. A skilled handyman, house painter, and collector of sentimental items, Terry was known as an old soul with a wealth of knowledge on a variety of subjects. He was always happy and willing to share that knowledge with others. Any friend of Terry’s knew he loved to talk on the phone and would send pictures from the past and present of himself, Darold, plants, flowers, dogs, cats, landscaping and more.
Terry was an animal lover and cherished his furry companions as well as the many others on the farm. Those who knew Terry remember him as a true friend who had a remarkable ability to make others feel safe and at ease in his presence. Terry was incredibly loyal to his friends, always there to offer support and care when needed. He had a unique way of expressing his love, never hesitating to say, "I LOVE YOU."
Terry's generosity knew no bounds and even at a young age, he was a caregiver at heart. As an adult, he would never let anyone leave his house without a thoughtful gift to take with them, a small token of his kindness and affection.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Sarah Stith; Darold and Helen Frakes; Boo Boo in the sky. He is survived by Darold Frakes, his loving husband, and siblings Raymond, Teresa, and Lisa.
