Thomas Hunter Scantland Sr., age 92, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 6:45pm. Thomas was born in Somerset, Kentucky on December 30, 1932 to the late William and Ida Scantland. Thomas served in the Armed Forces of the United States. He married Rosemary McGill on June 29, 1957. They were blessed with 68 years together. Thomas worked for the Courier Journal for 32 years and also was an excellent concrete man. His life was very authentic.
Thomas was preceded in death by siblings Frances Estes, Byron Scantland, Hazel Hampton, Thelma Blehar, Edna Keeling, Paul Scantland, Charles Scantland, and David Scantland.
Those surviving are his wife; son, Thomas H. Scantland Jr. (Doris); daughters, Judy Wood (Kevin), Tamara Scantland-Adams; 9 Grandchildren, Wesley, Jeremiah, Jillian, Caleb, David, Carol, Joseph, Joshua, and Amanda, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Kraft Funeral Home (2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150) on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 10am-1pm. Funeral will follow at 1pm. Burial will take place in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
