Albert J. Forgue, Jr., Al, age 84 of New Bedford and Bradenton Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2018 in Palmetto, FL. He was the husband of the late Eileen (Macabello) Forgue for 48 years until her passing on October 5, 2005.
Born in New Bedford to the late Albert J. and Eugenia (Golas) Forgue, he was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School in Carpentry. He received an honorable discharge from the US Navy Reserves in New Bedford and also completed graduate classes to obtain his Massachusetts Teacher’s Certification for Vocational Education. Al was a master craftsman who specialized in masonry and plastering. He was a proud member of the MA Local #3 Bricklayers Allied Craftsman Union, and a retired masonry teacher at the Upper Cape Regional Vocational Technical High School in Bourne.
Big Al was a funny and energetic man who was always willing to help others. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His favorite projects included creating beautiful brick, stone and plaster work. He also enjoyed playing golf, dancing, exercising and enjoying warm sunny days in Florida with Judy.
Family survivors include his two sisters, Dorothy Gomes and Florence Lyons; three sons, Michael Forgue and his wife Lisa, Howard Forgue and his wife Elaine and Glenn Forgue and his wife Dina; eight grandchildren, Mason, Craig, Owen, Noah, Myles, Sarah, Jessica and Glenna.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10:00AM at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours will be Friday, January 25, 2018 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
