Born in New Bedford, she was the youngest child of the late Joseph James and Bertha (Soule) St. Don. She married the love of her life, Robert F. Taylor, in 1970 and shared 49 years of marriage until his death in 2019. Together they ran J.T.'s Pub in Acushnet for 20 years, which became a second home to them and their loyal customers, many of whom became like family.
Throughout her 80 years, Sis was a caretaker, first to her grandmother, then her children, her parents and finally her beloved husband. Sis was known for her unwavering strength in the face of adversity. She approached life's challenges with resilience and determination and was known for her listening ear and care for others.
Sis graduated from Greater New Bedford Vocational High School and went on to become a keypunch operator at Calvin Clothing in New Bedford. She enjoyed crafting in her younger years and created many unique quilts for her family and friends. She looked forward to spring and summer when she could plant her garden and tend to all of the beautiful flowers in her yard.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Sis cherished her family above all else. She found immense joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. She treasured every moment spent with her family.
While we mourn the loss of Sis, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the profound impact she had on all who knew her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her memory will continue to inspire us all.
Sis is survived by her son Garry and his wife Michelle, daughter Julie, grandchildren Alexandra, Zachary, Shane, Evan and Sarah and great-grandson Elias, as well as her brothers Carol “Carl” St. Don (Caroline) and James St. Don; and many nieces and nephews.
Sis’ family would like to thank the South Coast Visiting Nurse Hospice workers for their support as well as the PCA’s from Tilly’s Girls, who were absolute angels on earth and cared for our mother with such deep compassion and kindness. We will forever be grateful for their presence in her final days.
She will be dearly missed but forever remembered with love and admiration.
A burial will be held Friday, June 7th, at 9:45 AM at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Buzzards Bay, MA. 02542. Family and friends are invited to meet at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford, MA. 02745 at 8:15AM to follow in procession to the cemetery.
