Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joaquim and Mary (Freitas) Gomes, he resided in New Bedford prior to moving to Acushnet in 1961.
Antone worked as the Grocery Manager at Stop and Shop until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Albert Gomes of Red Creek, NY; Barry Gomes of Acushnet; Deborah Bruce of Fairhaven; Clifford Gomes of Acushnet; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 1 brother, 3 sisters and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
His funeral will be held Monday, November, 25, 2013 at 8 am at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am at St Mary's Church, 440 Main Street, Fairhaven. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 3-5pm.
