

Armand Cabral, 91 died after a brief illness on March 27th at St Luke’s Hospital of New Bedford. He was born January 5, 1933 in Acushnet, Massachusetts and was the adoptive son of John Cabral and Anna Aguiar Cabral.
During his middle years, Armand was an avid golfer, bowler and card player. As a consequence, he was a long-time member of the Whaling City Golf Course here in New Bedford where he was able to indulge two of those passions. He was also a passionate sports fan and followed the Yankees and the Celtics until the time his children became involved in sports, and then was a frequent sight at local sporting events cheering them on.
For the majority of his working life, he was employed as a lineman in the electrical construction field and was extremely proud of his 65-year membership in the IBEW Local 104.
Armand married Shirley (Rothwell) Cabral on October 24th 1953, and in addition to his wife Shirley he is survived by his children Deborah Baptista of New Bedford, Armand (Kasey) Cabral of New Bedford, Michael J. Cabral and his wife, Danielle (Sylvia) Cabral of Acushnet, as well as 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Armand is predeceased by his sisters Hilda, Lorraine, Beatrice and Delores as well as his daughter Sherylee (Cabral) DeCrosta.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday April 3rd at Rock Funeral Home 1285 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM On April 4th at Acushnet Wesley United Methodist Church at 67 Main Street of Acushnet, followed by interment at the Pine Grove Cemetery located at 1100 Ashley Boulevard New Bedford. After the interment, a luncheon will be held at the Century House 107 South Main Street Acushnet and friends, family and well-wishers are cordially invited.
