Carolyn L. Brehaut

Born in New Bedford, she was the beloved daughter of the late James L. and Naomi (Ferreira) Crook, and the devoted wife of the late Harry R. Brehaut, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.

Carolyn was a graduate of New Bedford High School and spent many years working as a personal assistant in housekeeping. She was an active member of her community, participating in the Dartmouth Council on Aging, the Paskamansett Handquilters Club, the Wamsutta Saturday Club, and the Washington Club Pitch League.

Known for her vibrant spirit and outgoing personality, Carolyn truly was the life of the party. She enjoyed a glass of wine, crafting, sewing, karaoke, and attending social events. She loved going out, tending to her garden, traveling, and camping. Above all, Carolyn cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

She is survived by her loving children: John P. Brehaut and his wife Laurie of Westport, Jane B. Phair of Dartmouth, and Betsy J. Araujo and her fiancé Robert P. Peloquin of Dartmouth; her cherished grandchildren, Crystal, Jessica, James, Mary, Victor, and Evelyn; and her adored great-grandchildren, Katie, Nathan, Rowan, Dagen, Levi, and Aubrey. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

She was the grandmother of the late Joseph Araujo and the sister of the late James L. Crook, Jr. and Beatrice Crook.

Her visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA. Burial will be private.
