Born in Chicago, Illinois, Dolores was the beloved daughter of the late Ella (Tripp) Furtado and Joseph Furtado.
She was a proud graduate of Dartmouth High School, Class of 1977, and dedicated over 25 years of her life working as a compassionate CNA of Sippican Nursing Home, where she touched countless lives with her care and kindness.
Dolores was a woman who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved the warmth of the sun and the peace of the beach, often taking long walks and soaking in the beauty around her. A devoted reader, she could often be found with a book in hand, sometimes finishing one in a single day. She enjoyed her favorite comforts: Chinese food, meals at Pub 99, a warm serving of chicken pot pie, and let’s not forget her cold Coca-Cola.
Family was at the center of Dolores’ world. She was fiercely loving, strong, and what many would call a “tough cookie.” She cherished time spent traveling with her son, creating lasting memories together. One of her most special trips was her final vacation to New York, where she visited Brooklyn Bridge with him. Her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Siena, who she lovingly called her “princess.”
Dolores had a soft spot for butterflies, tulips, and the color, pink. Symbols that reflected her gentle spirit and quiet beauty. While she embraced the warmth of Summer, she never quite took to the cold of Winter.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her son Brandon Sadeck and his wife Julia of New Bedford; two daughters Jayme Moss of Middletown, Melissa Moss of Central Falls; six grandchildren Tyler Moss, Daniel Brownell, Levi Sadeck, Lennox Sadeck, Siena Sadeck, and Loralie Moss; two sisters Barbara Riberio of New Bedford and Theresa Walls of New Bedford; brother Joseph Furtado of California; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late George Furtado.
She will be remembered for her strength, her love for her family, and the simple, meaningful way she lived her life. Dolores leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to visit www.rock-funeralhome.com for service updates and to leave a tribute in her memory.
