Doris E. Bourque

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late William and Eva (Pepin) Messier, she was a lifelong resident of the city and a graduate of Holy Family High School.

Mrs. Bourque was employed in the Quality Control Department for the Acushnet Company for several years. A fiber artist, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting for the needy and was a great cook.

She is survived by two sons, Paul Bourque of New Bedford and Maurice Bourque and his wife Germaine of Acushnet; a daughter Madeleine Francis of Lake Havasu City, AZ; five grandchildren Kendra Bourque, Michelle Shoback and her husband Joseph, and Kevin, Keith and Christopher Francis; three great-grandchildren Aubrey, Victoria and Alexander and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Raymond Messier.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 9:30AM in Our Lady’s Haven Chapel, 71 Center St., Fairhaven. Visiting hours will be Monday from 8AM to 9AM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Flowers are welcome. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
