

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Louis Prevost, and Doris (Amaral) Lucas and the late step father John Lucas. She had resided most of her life in New Bedford, then moved to Dartmouth residing there until entering the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.
Ms. Salmi was a graduate of Kinyon Campbell Business School and worked for the Fall River Registry of Motor Vehicles for 14 years, retiring in 2007. She was also an office worker for Medeiros Bus/American Eagle and Laidlaw Transit.
Doris was a very religious woman, who was family oriented and loved spending time with her family. She was a child at heart while playing with her grandchildren. Doris also loved animals, especially her beloved pets, Sassy and Abby. She was also a talented crafter, owning Doris’ Ceramic Shoppe and enjoyed painting, sewing, and many other crafts.
Her family includes four daughters, Tanya Gibbons and her late husband Dave Gibbons and Diane Girard of New Bedford, Deborah Santos and husband Robert of Westport and Tara Marcondes and husband James of New Bedford; a sister, Jeanne Souza of New Bedford; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, also several great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Louis Prevost and Rose Brown.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 9am from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet.
