Born in Puerto Rico, Mr. Torres lived most of his adult life in the South Coast area. He was the son of the late Ramon and Monserrate (Roman) Torres. Ernesto worked for 28 years as a maintenance man at the New Bedford Housing Authority until his retirement in 2010.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Maritza Torres of Florida, Ernest Torres of New Jersey, Roxanne Ferrer and her husband Michael of New Bedford; 4 sisters ,3 brothers, 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Monday, April 30, 2012 at 9 am at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford followed by a funeral mass at 10 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St James, 233 County Street, New Bedford. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 pm. Burial at Pine Grove Cemetery.
