Eugene J. Surprenant

Eugene "Gene" J. Surprenant, age 84 of Acushnet, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Royal Health facility in Wayland. He was the husband of Joanne H. (Kershaw) Surprenant.

Born in Southbridge, a son of the Elzear and Valida (Deneault) Surprenant, he was a long time resident of the Southcoast. Gene was a graduate of St. Anthony's High School and later went on to serve in the United States Air Force. He then worked as a supervisor in the Silver industry.

Gene loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing Golf, doing Crossword puzzles and playing Cribbage at the senior center. Gene loved to travel with his beloved Joanne and going on car rides for ice cream

In addition to his loving wife Joanne, he is survived by his children, Kevin Surprenant of Nantucket and Eric Surprenant of Arizona; stepchildren, David Deneault and his wife Monique of Acushnet and Paula Ruscik and her husband Steven of Fairhaven as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Marc Surprenant and brother of the late Ronald Surprenant.

Arrangements are in the care of the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all services are private. To leave a note of condolence:

I played alot of golf with Gene at Little Marion. He was one of the regulars for Saturday proams. Enjoyed his quips and stories. RIP.....
