Born on September 20, 1936, Mike was a proud graduate of New Bedford High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Marines for four years before embarking on a lifelong career as a master carpenter and builder. Over the years, he also became a dedicated landlord, managing several apartments in New Bedford with care and commitment.
For 52 years, Mike was a devoted member of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Rochester. His faith guided his life and actions, and he was known for his deep trust in the Lord. A man of great humor and generosity, Mike lived life to the fullest. He cherished summers by the pool surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and friends. He had a passion for country music and loved dining out at various restaurants—often accompanied by his close friend Johnathan, while tending to his properties.
Mike is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 67 years, Ruth J. McCra; daughters Cathy A. McCra of Taunton and Susan G. Peters and her husband James F. Peters of Taunton; son Mark S. McCra and his wife Kathleen McCra of Rochester; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Rita Albrektsen of California and Florence Fonseca of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
